First stabbings, then shootings
Predictably, more violent mayhem has occurred in SJ's downtown "Entertainment Zones." Multiple stabbings and property damage upended a June 30 soccer watch party at SJ's San Pedro Square. NBC Bay Area reports below.
Two people were stabbed and multiple others were arrested Tuesday night after a World Cup watch party in downtown San Jose where thousands gathered to watch Mexico defeat Ecuador 2-0.
Video shot near Santa Clara Street and Market Street showed officers in riot gear lining the streets. Police said multiple people were arrested and booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail on various charges.
Officers responded to multiple fights, fireworks being set off in crowded areas and other incidents.
Police also said officers responded after a crowd surrounded an ambulance and several people climbed onto the vehicle, interfering with emergency responders. Authorities said members of the crowd threw bottles at officers as they worked to restore order.

{Editor's note: Violence associated with SJ's downtown Watch Parties and Entertainment Zone activities is becoming a pattern. On Super Bowl Sunday, a shooting on Paseo de San Antonio, near South Third Street, killed two men. A shooting at San Pedro Square on Sunday night after the game sent five adults to the hospital.}
