A Dem gov candidate that speaks truth to power

Gov candidate (and SJ resident) Thunder Parley on how CA tax schemes dissemble and misrepresent:

When you flip a light switch in California you assume you are paying for electricity. You are paying for a hidden shadow budget of social programs and liability funds that Sacramento refuses to put on the books. They let the utility companies play the villain while they use your monthly bill as an invisible credit card for their pet projects.

"If we fund these mandates through the general budget it forces transparency... Most importantly it would drop electricity rates for every Californian by roughly 25% overnight."--Thunder Parley

An LA supe that gets it

Just like in SJ and SCC, LA County BOS recently approved a half-cent sales tax for the June ballot to backfill federal, and state, healthcare funding cuts. But 5th District Supervisor Kathryn Barger sees through the preferred tax-raising narratives evasions:

“Los Angeles County residents are already stretched thin. Backfilling federal funding cuts on the backs of County taxpayers is not acceptable."--LA Supervisor Kathryn Barger

An SJ CM that stands athwart

When D10 SJ CM George Casey broke with Mahan and Council's misguided support of Measure A:

{Casey} questioned how the county intends to use the money, noting that the $330 million annual revenue is insufficient to plug the billion-dollar deficits, and accused organizers of using “slogans that play off emotions and ignore logic.”--D10's George Casey, as framed by the Merc.
