Shooting incident at Valley Fair draws new attention to geographic crime inequities in SJ and Silicon Valley. GISGeography shows which neighborhoods are least safe.
Here are some of the unsafest neighborhoods in San Jose.

| Alum Rock | Northeast San Jose, near Alum Rock Park | Much higher crime rate than the national average. Theft, burglaries, assaults, and drug offenses. |
| Central San Jose | Downtown San Jose and surrounding areas | Often considered the worst area in the city. Crime includes robberies, assaults, and drug-related offenses. |
